They have served in all branches of the military.Young and old; they come from all walks of life. We visit them in cemeteries; their names memorialized on walls. Many are found sleeping under bridges, in the woods; on sidewalks and in abandoned buildings. They turn up on park benches, in shelters and soup kitchens. And some just remain lost in the shadows.Comrades on the battlefield . . . loyal and dedicated soldiers.Still for too many, the homefront is the battlefield.Homeless, sad, broken-spirited, misunderstood. However, they remain selfless and courageous soldiers. But first, they are our moms and dads; husbands and wives. They are our children, brothers, sisters, cousins and in-laws.They are our friends, neighbors, classmates and co-workers.The road home leads to our hearts! Let us make our veterans our responsibility.
