The PATCH Project (Greeting Cards for Troops)          fphumor@yahoo.com

It is with the thought of the troops that are away at war who are facing astronomical danger that The PATCH Project came to be. On the front lines or remote areas in the fields, the soldier that is assigned to the injured usually has basic and or limited immediate resources for any extensive injury; however; there is always a patch of sorts involved.  It is used to help stop bleeding, it covers a wound, it protects a fragile injury, and it helps temporarily until stronger means of patches can be acquired.  Time, Commitment, Love, and a bit of Humor will help ease the transition our men and women of war will face upon the return home or while away on temporary assignment.  Often times they may exhibit aggressive behavior, emotional trauma, confusion, loneliness, and overbearing grief which are wounds of the heart caused by their experiences that sometimes words cannot describe.  Our concept seeks to assist in helping to patch those wounds through our greeting cards designed especially for our men and women in uniform. The written sentiments and designs of the cards are from personal experiences of the author, Candace Brown., married to Msgt. Wendell Brown, who chose a military career early in their 30 year marriage.

The word PROJECT comes to mind when organizations bind together to seek ways and funding to help homeless and disabled veterans who have given of themselves in such an honorable and courageous way and seek assistance putting everything back in perspective as a civilian and for their families.  A percentage of all sales is donated to homeless and traumatized veterans and their families through Wishing Well, Inc. of Hyattsville, MD.  PATCH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
